Dr Samir Hasan Dalwai MD, DCH, DNB, FCPS, LLB, Dr. Samir Dalwai is a Developmental and Behavioural Pediatrician who has completed his MBBS from Seth G. S. Medical College and KEM Hospital; and MD Pediatrics, DNB, DCH, FCPS from T. N. Medical College and Nair Hospital, Mumbai. He has done his LLB from J. C. College of Law, Mumbai. He is the recipient of the Government of India’s Rajiv Gandhi Manav Sewa Award for Services to Children- 2012. Dr. Dalwai is attached as Visiting Developmental Pediatrician to the Hinduja HealthCare Hospital and Nanavati Super Speciality Hospital and was earlier attached to the Learning Disability and Neuro Developmental Pediatrics Clinic at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General (Sion) Hospital and Medical College. Dr. Dalwai is the Founder-Director of New Horizons Child Development Centre, Mumbai (founded in February 2003) which has a multidisciplinary integrated team of 110 Developmental Pediatricians, Clinical and Counseling Psychologists, Occupational and Physical Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Remedial Educators and Nutritionists, with 5 Centres (www.enablemychild.org). Dr Dalwai personally consults children at the centres and oversees their evaluations and intervention program by the team via an ingeniously developed program called New Horizons Development Program (NHDP). He is the Founder of New Horizons Institute of Education and Research which runs the ● IAP Post Graduate Fellowship in Developmental Pediatrics ● Post Graduate Diploma in Special Education (PGDSE) and Certificate Courses in Psychology in affiliation with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) (www.newhorizonsindia.org). Dr. Dalwai is the author of following National IAP Guidelines on: 1. Diagnosis and Management of Autism Spectrum Disorders.(2017) 2. Diagnosis and Management of ADHD. 3. Diagnosis and Management of Learning Disability. 4. Screening of Newborn Hearing Impairment. 5. Integrated Management of Severe Acute Malnutrition in India’ (2013) 6. Recognition and Response to Child Abuse and Neglect in Indian Setting’ (2010). He is member of the Executive Board 2018 of Indian Academy of Pediatrics, President of the Mumbai Branch of Indian Academy of Pediatrics, 2016-17 and National Chairperson of the IAP Chapter on Developmental Pediatrics, 2014-17. He is a Founder Member of The Young Indian Parliamentarians’ ‘Citizens Alliance Against Malnutrition’. Dr. Dalwai is a member of the Expert Panel of the Maharashtra State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights, Government of Maharashtra. He is the Convener of the Special Needs Group of the Asia Pacific Pediatric Association. Dr. Dalwai has presented papers at many National and International Conferences (New Mexico, USA, Beirut-Lebanon, Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi- UAE, Thimphu- Bhutan, Rabat and Tangier- Morocco) and contributed many chapters to Journals and textbooks on the subject of Autism and other Developmental Disorders. He is a trustee of the Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan, Mumbai and Dalwai Educational Trust and Honorary Director of the Prabodhan Generic Medicine Bank Consumer Society. Dr Dalwai stays in Mumbai, enjoys Classic Cinema, Old Hindi Film Music as well as Hindustani and Western Music, is a keen Latin American Ballroom Dancing aficionado and loves writing poetry and fiction. He is a regular on debates in the Electronic media and contributes to the Press.
